Jon Jones has clarified his intention about fighting Stipe Miocic next for his first title defence. Jones defeated Ciryl Gane in the first round by submission to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship. UFC, Jones and Stipe have indicated a desire to book a fight with each other. But the fight may not happen after Jones posted a Twitter tweet.
Jones, in his tweet, accuses Stipe of dodging him in all of 2022, and only he, Stipe and UFC knows about it. Jones was addressing the rumours of Stipe not fighting this year against Jones. In another tweet, Jones asked Stipe to take up the challenge or not and to stop wasting everyone’s time.
These are heavy accusations coming from Jon Jones to Stipe. Last year, there were rumours of a Stipe vs Jones fight, but it never came to fruition. Stipe has not fought since his Knockout loss fighting Francis Ngannou in 2021. At 41 years old, it remains to be seen how long Stipe wants to fight.
Yo @stipemiocic only you the UFC and I know the truth, you dodged me all of 2022 – July, September & December.

Now I’m hearing rumors that we may not be fighting this July.
Bro it’s simple, either you believe in yourself or you don’t. Either you want this challenge or you don’t. Stop wasting everyone’s time.

Jon Jones is adamant about fighting Stipe to solidify his legacy as a Heavyweight fighter. Stipe Miocic is considered the greatest Heavyweight of all time defeating fighters like Fabricio Werdum, Francis Ngannou, Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos and Daniel Cormier (twice). It only makes sense for Jon Jones to challenge Stipe to solidify his GOAT status.
Jon Jones explains why fighting with Stipe is important
Jon Jones has fought the best fighters in the UFC. He defeated the likes of Alexander Gustafson (twice), Rampage Jackson, Rashad Evans, Mauricio Rua, Lyoto Machida, Daniel Cormier and Glover Texeira, just to name a few. But none of them was ever in the GOAT discussions.
Jones said, “My whole world is going to be focused on him. This is the biggest opportunity in my life to beat the heavyweight GOAT and I’m going give it everything I’ve got, absolutely everything I’ve got.”
Obviously, the GOAT vs Heavyweight GOAT is intriguing to Jon Jones and adds immensely to his legacy if he can defeat Stipe. UFC reportedly targeted the fight for July, but it remains to be seen when the UFC will book the fight.
