Jon Jones is often hailed as one of the best fighters in MMA. He has displayed his competency in the sport and recently won the UFC heavyweight title. However, the new heavyweight champion praised Tom Aspinall as a potential standout. While Jon Jones contemplated his departure from the sport, he could not help but admire Tom Aspinall’s potential within the octagon.

In a recent appearance on the OverDogs Podcast, ‘Bones’ shared his thoughts. “I think he really has the potential to do something really special in the heavyweight division,” Jones said. Tom Aspinall has undergone a year-long hiatus due to a knee injury. He currently ranks fourth in the heavyweight division and wants a future clash with Jones. However, it might not happen as Jones could retire. Aspinall debuted in 2020 and has won six of his seven fights in the UFC.

Meanwhile, Jon Jones‘ career has not been one filled with consistency. However, Jones has won all of his fights in the past decade. He has been on and off for most events. The legal troubles and failed drug tests kept Jones from competing. Jones recently came off a three-year hiatus before fighting Ciryl Gane for the UFC heavyweight title. Jones finished that fight in the first round and took over the heavyweight division in his debut fight.

The only fight Jones has ever lost in his career came via disqualification. It was against Matt Hamill in the heavyweights finale of The Ultimate Fighter back in 2009. Jones threw illegal elbows and was disqualified four minutes into the first round. There is doubt whether Jones will remain in the game long enough to face the rising star, Tom Aspinall. He has disclosed his intention to defend his belt once before hanging up his gloves. Jones’ next fight awaits at UFC 295, where he will fight Stipe Miocic later this year.

UFC 295 is slated for this year in November, where Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will headline the main event. Much like Jones, Miocic is also considered a legend of the sport. And he has equally been away from the fight game for an extended period. Many remain skeptical of his chances however, Jones holds a different perspective.

Jon Jones believes that Miocic poses a substantial threat. Jones offered a glimpse into his mindset, saying that he felt intense nervousness and even experienced nightmares about his upcoming opponent, Stipe Miocic. Miocic is widely hailed as one of UFC’s most accomplished heavyweights. However, he last tasted defeat in a dramatic knockout loss to Francis Ngannou in their rematch at UFC 260. Fans are ecstatic about this mega clash between the two heavyweight masters.

The excitement and anticipation for UFC 295 continue to build as the date draws near. The stage for November will be the illustrious Madison Square Garden in New York City as the backdrop. Fight fans worldwide eagerly await the meeting of these two titans in the octagon.
