Jon Jones will be fighting the greatest fight of his career at UFC 295. At UFC 295 “Bones” will be defending his newly acquired heavyweight title against UFC heavyweight, Stipe Miocic. Jones’ status as the GOAT of MMA is almost undebatable. Having won the title at UFC 285 against Ciryl Gane, UFC 295 would be his first title defense at heavyweight.
The recent training footage of Jones has created even more buzz around the highly anticipated matchup. Miocic, the former two-time heavyweight champion of the UFC is 41 years old. The recent training footage of Jones showed his ripped physique. This was a notable change from his appearance at UFC 285. Fans are now worried for Stipe Miocic as they consider this a threat to his chance of becoming a three-time champion.
Miocic has been out of action since he lost the title to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260. This was their second meeting inside the octagon after UFC 220 which saw Miocic withstand an early barrage to retain his title. However, at UFC 260, an improved Ngannou with good defensive wrestling KOed Miocic to become the first Cameroonian heavyweight champion of the UFC.
A coveted fight between Jones and Ngannou was rumored to happen. However, Ngannou left the promotion and has since signed with the PFL. Moreover, he also landed a big boxing bout against lineal heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. The Fury-Ngannou matchup is set for October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
