Jon Jones sends sarcastic reply to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s praise for Israel Adesanya following shocker at UFC 281
Jon Jones (L), Adesanya vs Pereira (M), Khabib Nurmagomedov (R)
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s wish for Israel Adesanya did not go too well. Jon Jones, who has an ongoing beef with the recently dethroned middleweight champ sent out a sarcastic reply to Nurmagomedov following UFC 281.
Ahead of UFC 281, Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC Hall-of-Famer showered praise on Israel Adesanya. The Eagle believed he should be respected more and should be considered at the same level as Jon Jones if he does end up getting two more title defenses. Those words surely aged poorly as Adesanya ended up getting obliterated by Alex Pereira in the main event.
Izzy and Jones have never had a cordial relationship. The two were once rumored to fight each other which never materialized but are still seen taking digs at each other. Jones, who considers himself leagues above the other fighters in the history of the promotion sent out a sarcastic reply to Nurmagomedov‘s tweet.
“I appreciate the kind words Champ,” wrote Jones as he sent out this tweet after the brutal knockout of Adesanya at the hands of his nemesis, Alex Pereira. Adesanya had 5 title defenses under his belt leading up to the blockbuster PPV event.

Jon Jones reacts to Alex Pereira’s amazing win against Israel Adesanya
Jones’ record is no longer at risk as Adesanya who was etching his name as the greatest champion in UFC history lost his belt to Alex Pereria at UFC 281. Pereira already had two wins over Adesanya in kickboxing and now has dethroned his nemesis in UFC to become the middleweight champion. Jones was impressed with the Brazilian and congratulated him on the win.
“It’s already yours Champ, Congratulations! Incredibly happy for you and your team,” wrote Jones in his recent tweet. Pereira had only three fights in the UFC before he earned himself a title shot against The Stylebender. After only four fights, Pereira is now the UFC middleweight champion which gets him the co-sign from an all-time great like “Bones”.

Jones is awaiting a return to the UFC. His last fight was in 2020 in the light heavyweight division. The former champ is looking to make his debut as a heavyweight in the year 2023. Jones vacating the light heavyweight division unfortunately came at the time, Adesanya moved up to challenge for the light heavyweight title. Doubt we’d ever get to see that matchup ever.
