Jon Jones pulled out from his fight at UFC 295, citing an injury that occurred during practice. He was training for his title defense against Stipe Miocic when he suffered the injury. On Instagram, Jones revealed that he would have the surgery the next day. He also mentioned that he intended to fight Miocic on his return.
Jon Jones thanked his fans for all the support and expressed distress about the whole situation. He said that injuries were part of being an athlete and that he was committed to returning from it. He thanked Stipe Miocic for the work that he had put in. Jones informed Stipe that they would fight at a later date. This is what Jon Jones said:

Dana White stated that Jon Jones tore his pec muscle off the bone and that Jones would take at least eight months to recover from the injury. Jones is the current UFC heavyweight champion. He won his belt against Ciryl Gane by submitting him in the very first round. It was his comeback fight after a three-year layoff.
Now, Jon Jones is looking at months of physiotherapy. He promised to return as soon as possible. Until then, the heavyweight division moves on. Dana White announced Sergei Pavlovich vs. Tom Aspinall for the interim heavyweight championship as a replacement for Jones vs Miocic.
Jon Jones replied to Islam Makhachev after the lightweight champion commented negatively about him
Islam Makhachev, during the build-up to his title defense against Alexander Volkanovski, took a dig at Jon Jones. He stated that a real champion would take a fight no matter who the opponent was or how much time he had to prepare for it. He referred to the incident that led to the cancellation of UFC 151 due to Jon Jones not taking the fight against Chael Sonnen.
Jon Jones came up with a reply for the lightweight champion. He said the younger champions must focus on beating some of his records instead of using their lips. Jones is widely considered the greatest of all time in MMA and has a lot of records to his name. Here is what Jones said:

Jon Jones is now sidelined due to an injury he suffered while training. He was preparing for his fight against Stipe Miocic when this incident happened. On the other hand, Islam Makhachev successfully defended his lightweight title against Alexander Volkanovski in UFC 294. Makhachev will now focus on new challengers in the lightweight division.
