Chael Sonnen is among the best trash talkers the UFC has ever seen. His sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude have made him a legendary MMA figure. Sonnen recently responded to rival Jorge Masvidal’s threats on his YouTube channel. He seemed confused about whether Masvidal challenged or threatened him. But Sonnen fired back in spectacular fashion.
Jorge Masvidal and Chael Sonnen’s rivalry started after Sonnen threatened to choke Ariel Helwani. Sonnen recently claimed he was the real gangster and slammed Masvidal for his comments. He claimed that he had more felonies on his record than Masvidal and considered it jailhouse talk. This is what Sonnen said:
Jorge Masvidal tried to come at me and call me a fake gangster. I have more felonies than he does, which is jailhouse talk. I wouldn’t expect any of you to be impressed by that, but it means he sleeps on the bottom bunk, and he will know what that means.Chael Sonnen via YT
Chael Sonnen also questioned Masvidal’s recent photos in rival Nate Diaz’s hometown. He called it a cowardly move to visit Stockton with multiple people for safety. Sonnen said he would attend the same events as Masvidal next week. He welcomed Masvidal to “wave” at him from a distance.
The back-and-forth showed Masvidal aimed to stay relevant even in retirement by targeting Sonnen. But Sonnen fired right back with his unique trash talk. He instead tried painting Masvidal as a coward making idle threats. The verbal barbs got intense quickly, with reputation attacks and vague warnings of violence. But no actual bout seems on the horizon yet. Still, Masvidal’s anger at Sonnen could bubble over if they cross paths at upcoming events.
Jorge Masvidal threatens to break Chael Sonnen’s eye orbital
Jorge Masvidal recently called out fellow MMA veteran Chael Sonnen to fight him. Masvidal slammed Sonnen and accused him of being a serial drug cheat. He also threatened violence against Sonnen by saying he would break his eye orbital bone.
Masvidal claimed Sonnen once tested positive for 6-7 different banned substances before a title fight. He suggested Sonnen used performance-enhancing drugs to try to become a “super soldier” and hurt opponents. Masvidal made it clear he had no respect for Sonnen or his legacy. He said no matter how many steroids Sonnen takes, Masvidal would still easily defeat him in a fight.
Masvidal said Sonnen was offered many matchups between them but declined them all. Gamebred believes Sonnen was afraid to fight him and called him out for dodging the potential bouts. Sonnen had recently mocked Masvidal by saying he should ‘beat Colby Covington first.’ Their beef continues to grow amid verbal jabs from either party.
