Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor both have a history in the MMA world. The rivalry between Aldo and McGregor began in 2015, when McGregor, an up-and-coming Irish fighter, began to taunt and insult Aldo, the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion at the time. Aldo and McGregor finally faced off at UFC 194.
The fight was highly anticipated, with Conor McGregor promising to knock out Aldo in the first round. However, in a stunning upset, McGregor delivered his promise, knocking Aldo out with a left hook just 13 seconds into the fight. McGregor became the new UFC Featherweight Champion.
During the Gamebred Boxing 4 event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, former UFC champion and future UFC Hall of Famer, Aldo fought Jeremy Stephens and the fight ended in a majority draw. Following the event, Conor McGregor took to Twitter and suggested that he and Aldo should consider boxing each other in the future.
“Conor (has a) big mouth,” Aldo told reporters in response to McGregor’s tweet. “He always talks a lot of sh*t. He has a scheduled fight. … Conor, shut your f*cking mouth. We were supposed to fight before in the UFC. You run, and now you still talk sh*t.” Conor responds to this with “Well ok then ahaha whatever lad I was only trying to be nice. Who pissed in your açaí ?” on Twitter replying to MMA Junkie’s tweet.

“It wasn’t really a fight” – Aldo
“Well it was, you just didn’t do very well” – Joe Rogan
I like Aldo but I believe his anger has clouded his judgement. This would be an excellent opportunity for him both financially and, possibly, retributively. I wish he would reconsider this. It is the definitive win/win situation.

If a boxing match were to take place between McGregor and Aldo, it would likely attract a significant amount of attention from fans of both fighters. Although Aldo’s recent match ended in a draw, he demonstrated exceptional skills and athleticism that should not be overlooked. Despite having only recently started his boxing career, Aldo has proven to be a skilled and challenging competitor in the boxing world.
Following his departure from the UFC in late 2022, Aldo has competed in two boxing matches and currently holds a record of 1 win, 0 loss, and 1 draw(against Jeremy Stephens). He stated that he will be discussing his future plans with his management team. Still, he doesn’t seem to consider the possibility of having a rematch with Conor McGregor as a viable option.
Conor McGregor has been sidelined from fighting because of his brutal leg injury during his rematch with Dustin Poirier in July of 2021. Many people were unsure if he would be able to compete again. The announcement of Conor McGregor’s return revealed that he would be facing off against Michael Chandler. Many assume that the long-awaited fight will occur towards the end of this year.
