Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor had one of the fiercest rivalries in the history of UFC. On the celebratory day of UFC announcing his induction into the hall of fame, the Brazilian decided to share a funny moment from his rivalry with McGregor.
Both Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor have buried their hatchet. McGregor has admitted that his hostility towards the featherweight legend was only part of his mind games. Aldo too has gone past the Irishman’s insults and also the defeat. At UFC 283, Aldo spoke to the media.
During his press conference, the former featherweight champ revealed he exchanges Instagram messages with his foe-turned-friend. With the help of a translator, Aldo revealed McGregor even after their fight used to pull harmless pranks on him. The Notorious One once left red panties outside the Brazilian’s hotel door.
“We were in red rock, owned by Lorenzo [Fertitta] in Vegas and we were window to window. It was the night that I beat Frankie Edgar, it was just a light-hearted joke. I didn’t do anything with it. I could’ve got my missus to wear it,” said Aldo.

The origin of Conor McGregor’s ‘Red Panty Night’ comment
At the UFC 197 press conference, Conor McGregor shared the stage with stars like Jose Aldo, Rafael Dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone, Dustin Poirier, and many others. Answering one of the questions put forward by the reporters, RDA said he would accept to fight McGregor whenever offered.
“I’d change your bum life. I can make you rich. You fight me it’s a celebration. You ring back home. You ring your wife, baby we done it, we’re rich baby, Conor McGregor made us rich. Break out the red panties,” said The Notorious One trolling the then-lightweight champion.
Since then the phrase “Red Panty Night” has been a running joke in the MMA community. McGregor himself has continued taunting his opponents with this iconic phrase. The Irishman went a step further to troll his Brazilian rival.
