Justin Gaethje faces a challenge from Max Holloway at UFC 300. Holloway’s volume striking vs. Gaethje’s power punches could result in an all-out war. Such battles could result in long-term health concerns for the fighters. Gaethje couldn’t help but ponder about the possibility of devastating damage in an interview.

Justin Gaethje recently sat down for an interview with SPORTSNET on their YouTube channel. There, he talked about UFC 300 and his upcoming BMF title defense against Max Holloway. Gaethje talked about the possibility of their impending bout having an everlasting impact.

I think we all have different definitions of war. I think there's a good chance we're both going to take some damage. Hopefully neither one of us take chronic damage. But we're going to be trying to inflict that on each other.

Justin Gaethje felt knocking out Holloway like he knocked out Poirier would become a memorable moment. Gaethje came out unscathed with an exclamation victory when he knocked out Poirier a minute into the second round at UFC 291. Hence, not suffering much damage remains the goal for Gaethje.

Gaethje pointed out that it was important for longevity because fighters do not get paid handsomely until the latter part of their career. However, Holloway has an even stronger chin than Poirier. No fighter in the UFC has ever knocked Holloway down. This excellent statistic proves one thing – Justin Gaethje will have to hit Holloway with something spectacular to achieve a knockout victory.

Justin Gaethje says Max Holloway is second to him in consistency

Justin Gaethje made a very interesting remark on upcoming rival Max Holloway during the interview with SPORTSNET. Max Holloway entered the UFC in 2012. Apparently, ‘The Highlight’ has been a huge fan of Holloway since the beginning.

Justin Gaethje only entered the UFC in 2017. By that time, Holloway established himself as a top featherweight. Gaethje was a fan of Holloway due to his consistent performances inside the octagon.

He's a guy that I watched excitedly. Every single time he stepped in there he is very consistent. Maybe the second most consistent ever. Second to me.

Gaethje wants to defeat Holloway but also has a lot of respect for him as a fighter. ‘The Highlight’ aims to display his consistent performance of dishing out damage at UFC 300. Moreover, Gaethje predicted a doctor-stoppage TKO finish against the Hawaiian fighter. This is going to be an interesting fight indeed, and fans cannot wait to see what happens inside the octagon.
