Kamaru Usman recently became a podcaster alongside partner Henry Cejudo for the Pound 4 Pound show. The two UFC veterans discuss various topics related to MMA and their personal life stories. Usman recently shared one about fellow welterweight contender Colby Covington and their relationship with Jon Jones. Here is what happened:

Kamaru Usman narrated the story of how he and Colby Covington had a prior connection before their UFC rivalry. This is what Usman said: 

We both move down to South Florida to do MMA. Colby Covington was offered to me as my second professional fight.... The fight didn't go through.

Usman went on to reveal that he accepted the fight against Colby Covington. However, he was unsure if Covington did. He heard rumors from some people that ‘Chaos’ did not. Nonetheless, the fight never happened. Usman fought somebody else on short notice and lost. Covington got into the UFC first while Usman competed in The Ultimate Fighter.

The first fight between Covington and Usman lived up to expectations. The pre-fight build had excellent trash talks. Covington and Usman put on a show when they fought at UFC 245. It seems fate always wanted them to fight after their initial matchup before the UFC failed to materialize.

Kamaru Usman reveals another Colby Covington connection involving Jon Jones

As many fans know, Jon Jones and Colby Covington were college roommates. This was before Covington moved back to Oregon from Iowa Central Community College. Covington has many intriguing stories about Jones. Recently, Kamaru Usman revealed another connection between him, Jones, and Covington.

This is what Usman said:

Me and Jon Jones were friends coming out of high school. So, when Jon Jones goes to college at Iowa Central, I go to visit Jones the following year and I stayed in the room that Colby Covington stayed in the following year when he was roommates with Jon Jones.
