Kamaru Usman is undoubtedly one of the biggest UFC superstars in recent times. The former welterweight title holder is one of the most active fighters on the roster. The fighter has been part of some of the biggest grossing pay-per-view events in the last few years.

However, during his early fighting days, Usman never expected himself to become this popular. In a recent YouTube video on his channel, Usman mentioned how he previously looked up to fighters such as Rashad Evans who headlined major events in different cities.

Kamaru revealed that he never knew how fast he grew as a fighter and now he’s selling huge PPVs and fighting in big arenas.“When you first start, You look up to the greats. Guys like Rashad Evans and being with them and watching him headline you know Canada, Vegas…I’m like man, I just wanna win a couple of fights. Then you slowly creep up and creep up, now you’re on the main card. Now you’re on pay-per-view,” said Usman. According to Usman, it took him time and a lot of effort to become the ‘main man’ and he considers himself blessed to have such a successful professional career.

UFC 278 was a true shocker and it had everybody on their toes when Leon Edwards knocked out Kamaru Usman in the very last round. That left head kick was nasty and it left Usman unconscious for about twenty minutes. Both the fighters will be running back the title fight in UFC 286 and Edwards is a little concerned about Usman.

In a recent interview with BT Sports, Edwards mentioned that a kick like that would definitely have an impact on Usman, who is currently 35 years old. He said: “A knockout affects everyone differently. He’s what now, 35, 36 years old? Coming off a knockout and fighting the same guy who’s just knocked him out, so let’s see how he comes back and how he reacts.”

Something similar was also explained by Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is a friend of Usman. It might be hard for Usman to fight that fear but if he manages to beat Edwards at UFC 286, it will be an amazing comeback story.
