“You can’t even walk” – Khabib Nurmagomedov challenges Daniel Cormier to a basketball game
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier are one of the best duos in UFC history. The lightweight and light heavyweight made the entire American Kickboxing Academy proud with their phenomenal careers. However, the two have always been very competitive with each other and a day doesn’t go by without the two engaging in banter.
Khabib Nurmagomedov and DC are the kings of the American Kickboxing Academy gym in San Jose. The two have been training at AKA for their entire UFC career and are two of the top talents that were molded by coach Javier Mendez. Not only did the two accomplish incredible feats in their career but the two shared a special moment recently when they were inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on the same night.
Recently on Khabib’s YouTube page, a documentary called “The Legacy” which covers the Dagestani’s career from a fighter to a coach showed footage of the two friends backstage during the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony. Even at an event like that, Daniel Cormier and Khabib couldn’t help each other but talk smack with each other.
Khabib Nurmagomedov claims to “eat” DC in a game of basketball
The documentary series shows Khabib and DC in the green room at the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony watching a video on the former double champ’s phone. Khabib immediately takes a dig at his friend and says, “I can eat you in basketball. Brother, you cannot even walk brother what are you talking about?” Khabib hilariously talked smack to DC.
Daniel replied to Khabib and challenged him to a game of basketball. “Do you want to play? Brother, you can’t beat me in basketball,” DC added to the banter. Unfortunately, that’s the only back-and-forth we got to watch in the YouTube series. Khabib and his relationship with basketball is somewhat weird. You’d think the sport would not be popular in a place like Dagestan but guess what? Khabib and his mates play their own version of the game.
A video from the channel, ‘Anatomy of a Fighter’ shows the former lightweight champ and his friends in Dagestan playing the game of basketball but in their own style. The players barely bounce the ball on the floor. All they do is wrestle on the court and travel with the ball until they manage to make a shot.
