Khabib Nurmagomedov is continuing to double down on his prediction of Islam Makhachev to dominate the Brazilian lightweight Charles Oliveira at the much-anticipated pay-per-view event, UFC 280.
The world will witness one of the biggest lightweight title fights in the history of UFC in less than two weeks. Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev is the fight that everyone has been waiting for. This lightweight title fight is more than just two extraordinary lightweights facing each other.
In a recent interview with UFC Russia, Nurmagomedov said, “I think Islam is more skilled than Oliveira.” According to the former champ, Makhachev is hitting his prime as a fighter and will have a synergy, mentally and physically as a fighter. “The Eagle” is confident that Makhachev can easily get the job done.
“Islam is at his peak. I think Islam is better overall. Of course, there are some potential dangers that we’re working on where Islam needs to be careful. Other than that, Islam should roll over him,” said Nurmagomedov talking to UFC Russia.
Khabib Nurmagomedov, the former lightweight champion retired in 2020 after defending his lightweight title thrice. After the recent run of Charles Oliveira in the lightweight division, the question of “what is Khabib fought Oliveira?” will also be answered in the form of Makhachev fighting in a legacy fight at UFC 280.

Prior to the booking of Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov was fully pushing for this iconic matchup to take place. The former champ was firm that the Oliveira vs Makhachev was the fight to make. Nurmagomedov has also been very confident in his teammate’s abilities which have rubbed the Brazilian the wrong way.
Nurmagomedov’s predictions for the upcoming title fight are very bold and has said in several interviews that Islam Makhachev has all the skills to finish the submission specialist, Oliveira. “I am the division’s problem. I have one of the best jiu-jitsu in the division and in the UFC. I think these guys are talking too much,” said the Brazilian in an interview with Ag Fight.
Makhachev is a favorite heading into this fight against Oliveira at UFC 280. Oliveira wants to prove all doubters, including Khabib Nurmagomedov wrong in the upcoming title fight and is more confident than ever.
