When you’re a fan of UFC and Mixed Martial Arts, it is very tough to choose between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. Khamzat Chimaev reveals who he supported during the McGregor – Diaz rivalry.
Khamzat Chimaev is going to fight one of the biggest superstars of all time, Nate Diaz at UFC 279. Though Khamzat is in “war mode” heading into his fight against the legend, the Chechen rising star admits that he was a huge fan of the Stockton Slugger during his come-up days. Chimaev only started MMA five years ago.
When Khamzat was beginning his mixed martial arts career, Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz were at the peak of their rivalry. In the year 2016, Conor and Nate fought twice, making it one of the greatest rivalries of all time in all aspects. In a recent interview, Khamzat reveals who he picked in the rivalry in 2016.
During the polarizing fight, Khamzat Chimaev had a hard time picking between the two fighters. “I was 50-50. Yeah, because I liked them both that time,” said Khamzat talking to ESPN MMA’s Brett Okamoto ahead of his pay-per-view main event against Nate Diaz this weekend.

Conor and Nate fought twice in the past and both of their fights stand in the Top 5 PPV of all time. Conor lost the first fight via submission at UFC 196 and later avenged his loss at UFC 202 by beating Nate in a brutal war. Khamzat reveals that he was a fan of both fighters back then.
“Both the guys were fun you know. I watched the press conference and everything. Everything was nice. Yeah, it was a cool fight and then I watched the second fight as well which was also nice,” said Khamzat. Later, the fighter said he wants to see the two superstars fight again in a trilogy.

It was popularly believed that Nate was going to fight Conor when the Irishman returns from his injury. The Chimaev vs Diaz matchup was a curve ball to all the fans. “I want to see one more fight with these guys as well. After my fight, maybe Diaz and Conor are gonna fight,” said Chimaev.
