The rising UFC star Khamzat Chimaev is scheduled to face the Stockton Megastar Nate Diaz in the main event of the UFC 279 this weekend. The five-round fight is scheduled to take place in the Welterweight division at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In an interview recently Borz stated his intentions to go back to Middleweight to fight the champion Israel Adesanya. Borz last fought in the 185lbs division at UFC Fight Night 178 back in 2020. He defeated Gerald Meerschaert via KO in the very first round.
Borz is on dominating run in the UFC’s Welterweight and Middleweight division. He is an undefeated fighter finishing three of his five fights within the very first round. His last victory was against former title Challenger Gilbert Burns. He defeated Durinho in a brutal war via a Unanimous decision that saw both fighters getting knocked down. The fight was Borz’s first three-round fight as he finished his previous fight within the very first round.
On the other hand, the Middleweight king, Adesanya is clearing his division of contenders. His only loss in his MMA carrier is at Light Heavyweight and is still undefeated at Middleweight. He is scheduled to face his Kickboxing rival Alex Pereira at UFC 281 in MSG, New York. Pereira has two wins over The Last Stylebender in Kickboxing which makes the fight very thrilling to watch.

In an interview ahead of his fight against Diaz at UFC 279, The Borz sat down with Bret Okamoto on ESPN‘s YouTube channel, Khamzat sat down to discuss fighting Nate Diaz in the main event this Saturday in Las Vegas, his thoughts on Leon Edwards knocking out Kamaru Usman and more. He also hinted at a potential move up to Middleweight to face the winner of Adesanya vs Pereira.
UFC President Dana White has previously stated that Borz will be next in line for the 170lbs title shot if he defeats Diaz. However, the recent shakeup in the Welterweight title fight at UFC 278 has changed the scenario. A trilogy fight between Edwards and Usman might be the next fight.

When asked that after the recent shakeup he might not be getting the title shot next Borz stated that he has no problem with the trilogy fight and if the UFC wants to do it he is fine with that. Borz further stated a potential move up to Middleweight to fight the winner between Adesanya and Pereira at UFC 281.
Borz stated, “If they want to do it, for me no problem, I’m gonna take some other fight, and we will see what’s happening. Maybe Israel Adesanya or the other guy, Pereira. Who wins that, maybe fight with them. I don’t know.”
