Luke Rockhold’s recent streak of donning the role of an anti-establishment figure may be reaching its final stages. Today the former champion put a journalist on blast for his lack of knowledge about the sport he covers.
Ever since his fight against Paulo Costa was at the verbal agreement stage, Rockhold has been very vocal about the issues he sees with the premiere MMA Organization in the world. These problems include but are not limited to, a severe lack of increment in fighter pay, the absence of post-career security in the form of insurance, and the tight grip over appearances in other promotions despite being independent contractors.
Recently a new media organization has been forcing its way into the UFC, and neither fans of fighters are too enthusiastic about their presence at UFC events. This reporter was also the same person who got slapped by Nate Diaz for comments he made about Nate’s teammate.
Luke Rockhold feels MMA Media doesn’t do its homework
The media company in question is Full Send MMA, a subsidiary of the NELK brand, whose members have become a staple guests on Dana White’s role at UFC events and even presidential meetings. The controversial $250k cash gift was also given to one of these YouTubers by Dana that received criticism from ex-fighters and fans at large.
Rockhold has developed a friendship with Chito Vera during his time at The RVCA Training Center and took offense to a gesture by a Full Send reporter. The reporter question offered Chito a Nucha Libre mask, a traditional mask used in Mexican Pro Wrestling, not considering the fact that Chito was Ecuadorian.

“I see this m*********** right here, you gotta do your f****** homework, this degenerate culture of Barstool Sports and Full Send, you gotta do your homework before you offer Chito a Mexican mask saying it’s his culture,” said Rockhold emphasizing that his friend was Ecuadorian not Mexican.
As the reporter tried to clarify that he was simply offering a mask without any deeper intentions, Rockhold would interrupt him asking him to, “Do you F****** homework,” over and over. “Being a reporter is about do your homework and understanding, and I know you guys got carte blanche because Dana’s partnering with your company, but do you f****** homework and develop a better culture”
