Luke Rockhold talks about Khabib vs Charles
Luke Rockhold, former UFC middleweight champion wants to put an end to the comparisons between his former teammate, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and current lightweight king Charles Oliveira.
The AKA gym member, Luke Rockhold has been out for nearly two years and is teasing a return to the octagon. The former champ is eyeing a return fight against Paulo Costa in 2022. And ahead of that matchup, Luke talks to Helen Yee about his plans to return to the octagon and also shines light on the comparison between Khabib and Oliveira.
Khabib is a retired lightweight champion and went out as the number one pound-for-pound champion. The 29-0 fighter is famously known for his flawless record having no losses in the octagon but Charles Oliveira is praised for overcoming several adversities in his UFC career to becoming the champ of the division.
“I mean the resume is not the same,” says Luke about the never-ending comparison. “It is entirely different, Khabib’s never lost one fight, one round. Charles has got a beautiful, amazing story and is a demon of a fighter now.”

Luke Rockhold says Khabib Nurmagomedov is a “GOAT”
“He has lost 10 times. Both are amazing champions. That is what it takes to be the champion. You have to be resilient, fight through the bullsh*t, the downs, and come back and prove yourself,” said Luke praising both the champions. Khabib and Luke have spent a lot of time together during training camps and have pushed each other to different limits.
Helen also asked Luke who the MMA GOAT was according to the former middleweight champion. “It’s hard to say. Khabib hasn’t lost to anybody. Of course he is a GOAT. There are a lot of ‘GOATs’ in MMA,” said Rockhold.
Charles recently was stripped of the lightweight belt owing to his weigh-in mishap at UFC 274 in his fight against Justin Gaethje. Despite Charles getting the win, the fighter was not crowned the champion. Who do you think is the lightweight GOAT? Khabib Nurmagomedov or Charles Oliveira?
