Luke Rockhold is not happy with the way things are run in the UFC. The former middleweight champion is tired of fighters, including himself being mistreated by the company and its president Dana White.
Luke Rockhold is finally back in the UFC after nearly 3 years. The fighter is back to fight a dangerous Paulo Costa on his return after the hefty lay off and his first media scrum for the UFC 278 is a straight hit. Rockhold did not plan to go easy on his first time facing the media in 3 years. Rockhold dropped an all-time rant on the promotion and its boss, Dana White.
Luke’s speech was fearless and touched on important matters like fighter pay, fighter bonuses, and health care provided by the company. A lot of fighters have come out to call out Dana and his company for the poor treatment of its fighters. Francis Ngannou, Jon Jones, and Paulo Costa are a few fighters to name that have gone against the company. Things don’t usually go well for fighters who attack the promotion but Luke is fearless this time around. Rockhold believes the company was heading in the right direction when the Fertitta brothers were in charge of running the promotion.
Luke Rockhold says things went downhill after Dana White’s takeover
Luke believes the company has done a disastrous job of dealing with fight bonuses. The fighter is shocked that the promotion is still handing out only $50,000 bonuses for the longest time despite all the growth the company’s seen over the years. “The company is growing and they are including all these stupid a** bonuses. $5000 here, $5000 there,” said Luke in his rant during the UFC 278 media scrum.
“$50,000, man. We have been stuck on this motherf**ker for twenty-f**king years. Back when GSP fought Jake Shields it was what? A hundred thousand? There was growth. When Lorenzo and Frank were running the show, there were real grounding wires…they’re just letting Dana run the show and suppress the sport,” continued Luke in his fiery rant.
“Our lives are on the f**king line. Health care needs to be taken care of. Our f**king health needs to be taken care of. Mine has not been taken care of,” added Rockhold on the UFC’s health care system. Fans truly are appreciating Luke’s honesty this fight week.
