UFC on ABC 5 featured the main event bout between American fighter Josh Emmett and Georgian-Spanish fighter Ilia Topuria in Florida. The UFC returned to the state of Florida after the magnificent UFC 287 in April. In the co-main event, surging fighters Maycee Barber and Amanda Ribas put on a show unlike any other in the women’s flyweight division.

Nicknamed “The Future,” fans once expected Maycee Barber to become the youngest champion in history. She had a ferocious approach and excellent striking skills to achieve that feat. However, it all came crashing down when she lost to the MMA legend Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246. Her second career loss came against the current champion Alexa Grasso at UFC 258. These losses made the fight fans root against her. However, she did not give up.

From July 2021, she attempted to revive her career. She has put on an impressive four-fight winning streak, even though some may have been controversial decisions. Nevertheless, she faced a dangerous grappler in Amanda Ribas at UFC on ABC 5. Ribas has struggled recently with an inconsistent record since 2020. Heading into the bout with Barber, she was 2-2 in the last four bouts.

The bout lasted less than two rounds as Barber managed to get the TKO stoppage in an astonishing finishing sequence. Both fighters got stunned in the third minute of the second round. However, it did not stop Barber from striking Ribas and knocking her down. Barber continued to land heavy elbows on the ground until the referee stopped the contest.
