Michael Chandler has been eager to get his hand on Conor McGregor ever since he moved from Bellator. Now it seems ‘Iron’ wants to face off against  ‘The Notorious One’ in a different kind of Showdown.

With rumors over  Conor McGregor potentially being featured as a coach in The Ultimate Fighter upcoming season, many fighters have come forward to pitch their name against the Irishman. Michael Chandler has been no different. Talking on the Believe You Me  Podcast he said, “Obviously, everybody knows I would be down. Me, Conor, on TUF, whether it be four-six weeks, however long we would be filming that thing. The tension, the rivalry, the competition, the trash talk, just the animosity that would be built up and then go into a training camp and fight later on after the show.”

Since switching from Bellator, Chandler has fought some of the biggest names in the Lightweight division but has failed to get a match with Conor McGregor. Despite having a bad track record in UFC and not looking as impressive as he was in Bellator, Chandler has managed to be one of the fan favorites in the UFC and is still a big draw. He has managed to be part of some of the most entertaining fights in the UFC.

During his recovery from his leg injury, Conor McGregor has managed to put on some serious weight. This transformation has perplexed many fans making it harder for them to speculate which weight class the Irishman will compete in when he returns.

Michael Chandler has revealed that he has gained some mass and expressed his desire to face Conor at 170 lbs. He said, “I’m walking around almost 190 right now… So 170, for me, would be a dream come true. I don’t like making 155. The only reason I can make 155 is just good, old-fashioned 12 weeks of diet, exercise, discipline, and a little bit of dehydration at the end, so why not do 170? I still think I’m bigger than Conor at this point, even with his regimen that he’s been on.”

While Michael Chandler is still the number five fighter in the Lightweight division, Conor McGregor is an unranked fighter. Both of them have lost their last fight to Dustin Poirier. While both of them look like shadows of their former selves there is no denying they have still enough star power to make a given draw.
