The long-standing rivals Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz share a lot of history in the UFC. Their two bouts at UFC 196 and UFC 202 concluded in such a fashion that it left the fans wanting more. Since then, both fighters have moved on to their own tracks. However, recently, McGregor and Diaz went back and forth on Twitter.
The “Notorious” has always entertained his fans on Twitter. McGregor was recently involved in some digs directed towards his bout with Diaz. In a tweet, McGregor posted a picture of a busted-up Nate Diaz getting hit by him. Conor captioned the post, “Nothing better than splitting the skin, Proper.” This post caught Diaz’s attention. The Stockton-based fighter gave a reply of his own. A picture of him celebrating his UFC 296 win after choking out McGregor was released by Diaz. He captioned the image, “Nothing better than real wins.“
This back and forth has ignited the older sparks between the two. On many occasions, Conor has shared his intention to make a third fight with Diaz. Both fighters have a win each after their two bouts. Many fans seek a definite conclusion for this trilogy as a third fight will satisfy the hunger.
Recently, McGregor shared his plans for his future. He confirmed his fight with Michael Chandler and planned to fight Justin Gaethje for the BMF belt. The Irishman plans to use the BMF belt as the prize money for his trilogy fight with Diaz. However, Diaz has stopped competing in the UFC and is currently exploring the boxing business.

Dana White’s official announcement of UFC 295 and 296 rules out Conor McGregor’s 2023 return
UFC CEO Dana White‘s announcement of the headliners for UFC 295 and 296 brought a lot of enthusiasm among MMA fans. But, this news also left a hint of disappointment as the announcement ruled out any chance of Mcgregor’s return in 2023.
Ever since the TUF finals, on numerous occasions, Conor has expressed his desire to make his comeback in the year 2023. The Irishman reportedly planned a comeback in December. However, White neglected any speculations and confirmed the news of the Irishman’s return in 2024. White has also confirmed McGregor’s return in the media, but due to the Irishman’s ongoing issues regarding USADA have created unnecessary obstacles.
McGregor is set to fight rival TUF coach Michael Chandler in his UFC return. Now, after the November and December cards reveal, many can confirm that 2024 will host McGregor vs. Chandler. Further, reports suggest White is planning early 2024 to book the fight.
