Former UFC BMF title holder Jorge Masvidal retired from the UFC, after his loss against Gilbert Burns. Masvidal did not have any luck winning his recent fights yet he remains a big draw in the world of MMA. Masvidal as of now is in the promotion business but he was UFC’s biggest draw at one point. His five-second knockout against Ben Askren played a huge part in his rise as a star. However, NFL player Tyreek Hill seems to have forgotten about it as he is confused with Gamebred’s opponent.

Prior to his resurrection Jorge Masvidal had several ups and downs during his UFC career. Although Gamebred was winning bouts, his fame was nowhere near what it is now. However, after a year-long hiatus, Gamebred made his return to the sport and shocked everyone by knocking out Darren Till. His altercation with Leon Edwards later on also helped to cement Jorge’s image as a gangster

Then came Jorge Masvidal’s iconic fight with Ben Askren where he won the fight in 5 seconds. The fight became the highlight of Masvidal’s career and propelled his fame to the stratosphere. However, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill seems to be confused about it. During Masvidal’s appearance on Tyreek Hill’s podcast, he talked about his victory and stated Askren’s credentials.

However, instead of Ben Askren, Hill started talking about Hollywood actor Ben Affleck. Tyreek’s comment left Masvidal and his co-host a bit puzzled and his co-host tried to clarify. Hill later elaborated by saying the dude Jake Paul fought, referring to Askren’s boxing bout. While it was a genuine slip-up, the thought of Jorge Masvidal fighting Ben Affleck will surely leave fans in splits.

Retired UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal at one point was one of the biggest draws in UFC. He reportedly earned over $5 million in a single bout without ever becoming the champion and has cashed out many 7 figure checks from UFC. While Jorge is paid very less when compared with the top boxers, he still partly stands by the UFC fighter pay.

The fighter pay in UFC is one of the hottest issues that has been debated for a couple of years. UFC president Dana White is constantly criticised for underpaying fighters despite making millions in profit. Masvidal during his appearance on Jake Paul‘s podcast gave his opinion on the fighter pay disparity. “In the beginning structures of it, the UFC takes care of guys really, really, really well. Especially compared to boxing or any other promotion out there; where they’re paying a guy $20,000 and $20,000. You’ll never get that on the regional scene,” said Masvidal.

Although Jorge Masvidal believes that entry-level and mid-level fighters are paid enough, he thinks that the top fighters should be paid more. Masvidal along with Paul is an advocate of Fighter pay but biased towards Dana White. As of now, Jorge Masvidal is promoting fights for his Gamebred Bareknuckle FC. He is also paying veteran UFC fighters a lot more than what they made in UFC.
