“Feeling like it was me” – Nigerian UFC champion Israel Adesanya reacts to Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Israel Adesanya speaks on the new Black Panther movie

The new Marvel movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has taken over the world by storm, and UFC champion Israel Adesanya is delighted after watching the movie.

The current UFC roster has a close connection with Africa. Three superstars of African descent, Israel Adesanya, Francis Ngannou, and Kamaru Usman all very proud of their roots. The new Black Panther has fully the impressed UFC middleweight champion. The movie’s catchphrase, “Wakanda Forever” is very special to Izzy.

The UFC middleweight champion says, “Wakanda Forever is now synonymous with us. It’s a unity thing and it just brings us together when someone black does this *Wakanda Forever sign* to you. It is like Blackness confirmed.” The UFC 281 star also says the new Black Panther movie made him feel like a Black young kid who learned what it means to be represented in good light on the biggest stage of the world.

“Black faces being represented on the screen feeling like it was me. It could be me,” said Adesanya. Israel Adesanya grew up in Nigeria before moving to New Zealand and is still in connection with his cultural roots. The fighter has made it a habit to try and speak in the native tongue “Yoruba”.

Israel Adesanya, Kamaru Usman, and Francis Ngannou are three of the biggest superstars in the UFC. The three will go down as one of the greats to fight in the UFC. All three have held the UFC gold while Adesanya and Ngannou still are the champions of the middleweight and heavyweight divisions respectively. Usman only recently faced his first loss in the UFC against Leon Edwards.

All three have constantly shown that they are proud of their roots and always make sure they leave the fans with a taste of their culture when they fight in the UFC. Adesanya, Usman, and Ngannou are known for rocking African attire at several UFC events. Both Adesanya and Usman are from Nigeria while Ngannou comes from Cameroon.

Israel Adesanya will fight Alex Periera at UFC 281. Francis Ngannou is now looking to recover from his injury and make another title defense while Usman is all set to rematch Leon Edwards next year and win his welterweight title back. Belt or no belt, these three will leave a beautiful legacy when they leave the sport.
