Paulo Costa never stops being the internet troll he is and recently made a joke about why he chooses to live in Brazil instead of the US. In the last few months, Costa has changed the public’s opinion about him from being one of the hated fighters to one of the most loved.

It happened after the Brazilian stopped caring and embraced his inner humorous and sarcastic side. Turns out fans love it, and it’s quite evident on the fighter’s Twitter handle. Recently, Costa made a poll about who he should fight next inside the UFC octagon. In the options, he kept Sean Strickland, Robert Whittaker, and Khamzat Chimaev. As expected, the fans voted for Chimaev the most given the unfinished business both fighters have.

On the same Twitter thread, Costa also hilariously mentioned that it’s nighttime in Brazil and he’s only living there to avoid American taxes and do some criminal things.

He wrote: “I just live here to avoid tax and commit some illegal activities.”  Although, as usual, it was a joke, fans made a big deal out of it and reacted in various different ways.

UFC fighters make tons of money if they are the top superstars of the promotion. Given that Costa recently made a multi-million deal with the UFC, the fighter has the chance to become the highest-paid Brazillian fighter in the UFC. However, UFC is an expensive sport, and fighters often complain about spending a big chunk of their paycheck on travel, coaches, and taxes. It might be the reason why Costa, like many foreign fighters, chose to live in Brazil. Here are some of the most notable reactions to Costa’s tweet.
