Mirab is a great Little fighter - Pros loads praise for Merab Dvalishvili following his win against Jose Aldo at UFC 278
Jose Aldo locked horns with Merab Dvalishvili on the main card of UFC 278 in a key bantamweight showdown. Aldo came into the fight with a three-fight win streak and this was possibly the last title run of his career. On the other hand, Dvalishvili has been on the rise and has won six fights consecutively.
The hype around the fight was high as Aldo has a huge fan base who were excited about the fight. From the start of the fight, Aldo with his classic stance started leg kicking Dvalishvili. As the round progressed, both the fighters indulged in more feints and moved back and forth. Both the fighters were a little defensive and there was not much decisive action.
Dvalishvili throughout the fight tried several takedowns but missed out on many of those. Both fighters had a lot of clinching as they struggled to get a huge shot at each other. In the last round, the Georgian got a little serious with his approach and connected more shots.
After three rounds, Dvalishvili was announced the winner via unanimous decision.

Former UFC double champion, Conor McGregor seems to have a liking for Merab Dvalishvili as he praises the fighter on Twitter.
McGregor tweeted that he is thrilled with this matchmaking as the clash of styles was great.
“What an entrance. Performance of a career here I feel. This guy tailor made for Jose to shine. Styles makes fights. Great matchup!”
After the fight, McGregor commended Dvalishvili’s wrestling and groundwork. McGregor looked impressed by the fighter and gave him credit. He wrote :
“Those Georgians are really under rated tho and largely unknown. But many incredible wrestler grapplers hail from here. Certainly straight wrestlers. This guy Mirab is a great little fighter!
UFC flyweight prospect Jeff Molina pointed out the fact that Aldo’s walkout to the octagon has always been legendary. He wrote :

During the fight, retired UFC fighter Stephen Thompson made a tweet and scored Aldo ahead for winning the rounds. He wrote:

UFC featherweight prospect Cody Stamman was impressed by Dvalishvili’s cardio and made a tweet to share his thoughts.
“Merab has a gas tank. No doubt,” wrote Stamman.
Lightweight fighter Matt Frevola liked the fact that Dvalishvili was regularly putting the pressure on Aldo and this might be the deciding factor.
“Constant pressure from @MerabDvalishvil is going to get this done!!! #UFC278” wrote Frevola.
