“It’s not healing in time”- Robert Whittaker offers a grim update on his UFC 275 clash against Marvin Vettori

A fight between two top middleweights, Robert Whittaker and  Marvin Vettori was supposed to take place at UFC 275. Whittaker suffered loss only twice in his latest 14 appearances. Both defeats are against the current king of the middleweight, Israel Adesanya.

Vettori also lost only twice in his last 8 bouts, and both of them came against the champ as well. While Adesanya is booked to defend his middleweight title against Jared Cannonier, the spot for the next contender is still vacant. UFC was hoping to provide the winner of Whittaker vs Vettori with another title shot, but after an unfortunate injury, Whittaker is forced to pull out from this fight.

He announced it via Twitter, he wrote, “Sorry to say guys due to an injury I took early in the camp I’m not able to compete in June. I did everything I could to get it right but its not healing in time. All this means is that I’ll be back in the octagon a couple months later and I’ll be better than ever.”

Vettori probably knew about this before the news was made public. He recently called out ‘The Smesh Bros’, Darren Till, and Khamzat Chimaev in a recent tweet. He wrote, “We’re back at this. I think I’m the only 185er that can say that has never pulled out of a fight but anyway smash boys I’ll get you back to back lets do it I’m willing to die just show up Khamzat Chimaev Darren Till Mick Maynard Ali Abdelaziz Dana White.” 

It was surprising yet reasonable for Vettori to call out the duo as the hype around them is unreal. Both Till and Chimaev have gathered immense popularity due to their brotherhood which was admired by many fans. Chimaev is currently linked with Colby Covington and will be fighting him later this year.

On the other hand, Till might be interested in taking on Vettori. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting fight to watch.
