Former UFC welterweight and BMF champion Jorge Masvidal is known for supporting former US president Donald Trump. Masvidal recently appeared on George Janko’s podcast and talked about his relationship with the former President. He also has a good relationship with Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis.

Masvidal claimed that he is Trump’s favorite fighter as Trump has attended two of his fights. The retired fighter then talked about his disbelief upon meeting Trump. He said, “It is baffling to me bro, I’m just some kid who can fight and I’m talking to the president“. He further added to it “Trump is the greatest president, he is not like other politicians he did what he said”

Masvidal’s former teammate and rival Colby Covington is also known to be a supporter of Trump. Covington has supported Trump merchandise on multiple occasions and had interacted with the President at the White House during his term. He also got a call from Trump during an interview after his fight against Tyron Woodley.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also has a good friendship with Masvidal. He awarded DeSantis with his very own BMF belt for “keeping Florida free and setting an example for the rest of the world“. Masvidal also attended the re-election campaign for DeSantis.

Colby Covington alleges Jorge Masvidal retired due to steroid use

Covington is known for making headlines for controversial reasons. He blamed rival Jorge Masvidal for faking his retirement in order to avoid drug tests. Covington defeated Masvidal via unanimous decision at UFC 272. It was a grudge match between the two. The long-time rivals were teammates at the start of their UFC career.

In an interview with Inside Fighting the former title challenger had some harsh words for Masvidal. He said, “It’s a fake retirement…we all know people in the UFC that don’t retire, they’ll get out of the USADA pool, probably go do some steroids”. Masvidal has never tested positive for a drug test and has received his 50 clean tests jackets from USADA.

Masvidal was arrested by Miami Beach Police for attacking Covington at a restaurant. Covington had supposedly made comments about Gamebreds daughter which caused the incident. The incident outside the Miami restaurant took place 16 days after both MMA stars fought each other in the main event of UFC 272.
