Rose Namajunas and Valentina Shevchenko
Rose Namajunas recently lost her UFC strawweight title against Carla Esparza at UFC 274 and the fight was extremely boring for many fans. Being a title fight, it didn’t deliver at all as both the fighters were criticised for their lack of activity inside the octagon.
Namajunas who is known for her attacking style had a different game plan altogether as she decided to stay put throughout the fight. That fight was shocking for many fight fans as well as other UFC fighters too. Women’s flyweight champion Valentina also in an interview on the MMA Hour show, gave her opinions about the fight. She said :
“But I feel like if she would be active in that moment — it’s hard to say. We can now think about all possibilities in the world, what could happen, if it will be like that, but it happened how it happened. I still feel Rose is a very, very good fighter. She’s very skillful, she has a lot of good things in her game, it was just a night when she was not herself.”

Rose Namajunas recently did an interview with MMA Fighting‘s Mike Heck where she discussed his upcoming challenges and potential opponents.
When asked about a potential fight with Valentina Shevchenko, Namajunas first opened up about her relationship with Shevchenko. The fighter revealed that she is a great fan of the Russian and considers her the UFC women’s greatest of all time, even above Amanda Nunes. Namajunas explained that she and Shevchenko are very good friends and it will take a lot of consideration to fight each other. Namajunas also revealed as an MMA artist fighting someone like Shevchenko does excite her but she is not sure about it just yet. She said :
“I love Valentina. In my opinion, and I always forget that Amanda Nunes is the women’s GOAT of MMA, but Valentina, if she keeps doing what she’s doing, you could make that case as well. I do consider myself to be Valentina’s friend, so for me to do that, we would have to be set up, not for life, but it would have to be for a very good reason for me to even want to step into her…. obviously as a martial artist that would be very interesting. But, yeah, I don’t know it yet. It would have to be very lucrative.”
Surely a fight between Namajunas and Valentina is something that would interest the fight fans a lot. Both the fighters are huge superstars which will help the event to sell millions of pay-per-views.
