“Maybe why Khabib stepped away”- Sean O’Malley names Charles Oliveira as a real threat to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s legacy

Charles Oliveira & Khabib Nurmagomedov
Sean O’Malley talks about Oliveira vs Khabib! Khabib Nurmagomedov retired as a champion and is considered to be the greatest lightweight of all time. However, Charles Oliveira, the former king of the lightweight division is edging closer to taking that throne from Khabib. Islam Makhachev, who is a top lightweight contender and believed to be the successor of Khabib is eyeing a potential title fight against Oliveira.
Oliveira won his title after knocking out Michael Chandler at the main event of UFC 262. He then went on to defend his throne against the former interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier. Many questioned Charles’ legitimacy as a champion before this fight, but after he choked out Poirier in the 3rd round of their contest, everyone acknowledged him as the true king of the division.
His next title defense came against another former interim champion, Justin Gaethje, and Oliveira weighed in 0.5 pounds because of a mishap, and he was forced to relinquish his title, he defeated Gaethje anyways, and now he is booked to face Islam Makhachev for the undisputed title.

It would be Charles. Everyone else I think Khabib kind of mauls. I think Charles is the only one that can really give Khabib problems and, who knows, maybe that’s why Khabib stepped away.”
He added, “Maybe he saw, ‘I don’t want that guy.’ Who knows, but yeah, that’s one fight that I would be interested in seeing Khabib come back for. It would be a massive fight. Charles is the champ and everyone knows it. That’s just it. I don’t think anybody looks at him as not being the champ. I don’t think you can find one person that thinks he’s not the champ or wouldn’t call him the champ.”
“I hope he got his pay-per-view money, I hope he is making the championship money going into the next fight. Everyone’s got to look at him as the champ, the fight’s he’s been doing, the performances he’s been putting on. Charles Oliveira’s the champ and everyone knows it,” O’Malley concluded
