Sean O’Malley is one of the biggest names in the UFC, but he does know the worth of a strong resume and impeccable skill set in order for a fighter to get the biggest fight of his career, the title shot. O’Malley, the #12 ranked UFC bantamweight who’s been fighting the unranked opponents throughout his UFC career so far, except for Pedro Munhoz which ended up being a no contest, is making a major bump in his scheme of challenges as he will next face former UFC bantamweight champion and #1 ranked bantamweight, Petr Yan.
In an interview with The Schmo, O’Malley talks about reaching Dubai 2 weeks before UFC 280, people clicking pictures with his pink colour Lamborghini, his next fight against Yan, his prediction for Khamzat Chimaev’s run at middleweight in the near future and much more. In the midst of all, O’Malley also talks about who else, apart from him he thinks is deserving of a title shot.
“Probably Chito,” says O’Malley indicating the name of Ecuadorian MMA fighter Marlon Vera, also, the only fighter to have a win over O’Malley. “Coming off the win over Dom, [even] Cory [Sandhagen], he’s always up there… if TJ wins [his title fight against Aljamain Sterling] and Petr wins [against O’Malley], maybe Petr. But the way I see it, I think about to go out there & put Petr’s lights out and get the next title shot…” he continued.
Sean O’Malley talks about the Mount Rushmore of the current biggest names in the UFC
In the same interview with a fresh breath of another question, O’Malley also talks about the Mount Rushmore of the megastars in the UFC. O’Malley not only talks about the contemporaries, but he also predicts the next Mt. Rushmore from out of the next generation of megastars.
“Currently… Conor’s gotta be always up there, Nate [Diaz]… Jorge [Masvidal], Jon Jones, the big names, but I do think me, Paddy, Khamzat are the next wave of the big names,” said O’Malley.
