“That was a fake foul”- Sean O’Malley says Pedro Munhoz faked a nut shot before exaggerating an eye poke at UFC 276

Sean O'Malley on Pedro Munhoz

Pedro Munhoz and Sean O’Malley had one of the more upsetting fights at UFC 276 and in a card that gained the main event so much criticism, that statement is saying something. The opening fight of the main card was stopped in round 2 after an eye-poke from O’Malley lead to the end of the fight due to Pedro being unable to continue.

Immediately after this fans started accusing Pedro of quitting the fight and alleging that the injury wasn’t as serious as he made it seem. During the time the doctor entered the cage to check on his eye as the referee called for a break, Munhoz would say, “All I see is black” promoting the first to be stopped before he took the full 5 minutes to recover

While Sean O’Malley continued to celebrate as the fight was called off it was only when Bruce Buffer read out the decision that it was ruled as a no contest, hence adding another blemish to his supposed “undefeated” record of O’Malley. O’Malley who primarily has a relatively younger fan base further insinuated the idea that Pedro was looking for a way out with the eye poke.

O’Malley accused Pedro of exaggerating his injury, and he believes he was looking for a way out. Pedro wasn’t impressed by these accusations, and he even shared his medical report to make his case. The MMA community had mixed reactions to the incident, but O’Malley isn’t doubting his explanation even for a second.

Talking about the fight on his YouTube channel, he said, “Pedro said I poked him in the eye, which I didn’t. Maybe a little bit, but his eye was closed, and then he said I poked him twice. In the first round, when I punched him in the eye. That’s the one that swole his left eye shut. That’s the one that really hurt him, when I punched him in the eye. My knuckle is actually still sore from that punch, boom, right in the eye socket.”

O’Malley then accused him of faking a nut shot as well, he said, “Right after I punched him in the eye I threw a teep kick. It landed on the belt line. I’ve kicked people in the nuts before. I feel the cup. I did not hit him in the nuts. That was a fake foul. I hit him in the gut and instantly he didn’t hold his nuts, he held his eye.”
