Sean Strickland is known for being a controversial fighter with a bold and unfiltered personality. However, in his recent appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, we saw a different side of Strickland. Sean Strickland got vulnerable on Theo Von’s podcast. He talked about how he got in trouble at school.

Strickland argued that twenty years back, racism was more common than it was now. However, after facing consequences and reflecting on his actions, he realized that he was not racist. Here is what Sean Strickland said about his realization and how his racist grandfather’s influence affected him:

I had this piece of s*** grandfather who was super racist. Big white man. You know you're a kid with a piece of s*** father and like you just gravitate towards anything masculine. And like this big old white racist redneck and I'm angry so next thing I know dude I'm like...and then I started training like ninth grade and then dude like I realised I wasn't racist I was just angry.

He eventually entered the UFC and established himself as a distinct figure. Strickland became the UFC middleweight champion after he defeated Israel Adesanya at UFC 293.

Ian Garry’s wife, Layla Anna-Lee, has faced backlash for writing a satirical book about how to date athletes. She wrote the book, titled How to Be a WAG, back in 2010, before Layla and Garry were in a relationship. Some have interpreted Layla’s book as a guide for gold diggers. Layla is a TV sports presenter and is 14 years older than Garry. Netizens and Ian’s fellow athletes like Strickland accused Layla of trapping Garry for her benefit.

Sean Strickland said he sensed something about Ian Garry’s wife during their heated exchange. Strickland labeled her a “sexual predator” and suggested to Garry that he should end the relationship. Garry’s wife responded to Strickland’s claims. However, she faced severe backlash on the internet. Garry and Anna-Lee have been together since early 2021. They even got engaged in September of the same year.
