Sean Strickland lost the middleweight title at UFC 297. Dricus Du Plessis edged out a split decision, but many thought Strickland won the fight. Even UFC CEO Dana White said he thought Strickland won. Nonetheless, Strickland took the defeat wholeheartedly and even shared an Instagram story with his girlfriend.

On the Instagram story, Strickland assured fans that he was all right. His girlfriend KJ was beside him and was in a jovial mood. Strickland did have stitches near his eye, which was caused by a headbutt from Du Plessis. This is what Strickland said on his Instagram story.

There is little to no information available about Strickand’s girlfriend. The public only knows the initials of her name. Strickland is very close to her, and his head coach, Eric Nicksick, even credited Strickland’s success to the impact of KJ. On the other hand, Dricus Du Plessis‘ girlfriend, Vasti Spiller maintains a public profile, unlike KJ.

Dricus Du Plessis’ girlfriend releases romantic video after title triumph over Sean Strickland

Dricus Du Plessis became the first South African champion at UFC 297. More than 100 people from South Africa came to Canada to support Du Plessis. His father, mother, brothers, and girlfriend were all in Canada to support the middleweight fighter. Moreover, there were watch parties all over South Africa to support him.

His girlfriend, Vasti Spiller, accompanied Du Plessis throughout the fight week. She even conversed with Sean Strickland before the fight. After the victory, Spiller posted on Instagram with Du Plessis. In the Instagram video post, Spiller wore the belt on her shoulder and kissed Du Plessis. The song ‘God’s Not Dead‘ by Newsboys was in the background.

Du Plessis started a relationship with Spiller sometime around mid-2023. Spiller is a professional photographer and is also a certified fitness coach. She even walked out with Du Plessis at UFC 297. Du Plessis’ upcoming plan is to defend the title against former champion Israel Adesanya. Adesanya has responded with a social media post reciprocating his interest.
