Shane Burgos etches a close majority decision in a violent 3-round slugfest against Charles Jourdain at UFC Long Island

Shane Burgos and Charles Jourdain are all set to put up a monumental performance for the Long Island crowd tonight. Both featherweights are looking to make a mark in the featherweight division and a rare opportunity as tonight’s fight card will have a capacity crowd to shine in front of. With the title picture between Holloway and Volkanovski finally coming to a close, it’s a good time for others in the division to make their moves.
Jourdain is riding high off his victory against UFC Veteran, Lando Vannata and is currently on a 2 fight-winning streak. Burghos was facing a downward slip against tough competition in Josh Emmett and Edson Barboza. While all these were highly engaging fights he still struggled to get that elusive win. However, he managed to bounce back with an iconic battle against Billy Quarantillo at the equally iconic Madison Square Garden
A dominant win for Burgos would have him move up the featherweight rankings while Jourdain finds his opportunity to enter his name at the top of the chain at featherweight

Round 1
Both fighters exchange heavy hooks and kick right from the start. Burgos is able to capitalize on a telegraphed hook by Jourdain and manages to secure a takedown, He momentarily goes for a body triangle and almost sinks in the RNC, however, Jourdain manages to survive and slip out. Following a slow few seconds, Jourdain manages to land a heavy 3-punch combo and manages to even land a heavy kick. The rest of the round ends with both fighters exchanging light strikes without causing notable damage.
Round 2
Jourdain and Burgos exchange heavy kicks to the body at to start of the round. Shane is currently the one putting Jourdain on the backfoot while he manages to counter moving back effectively circling around the octagon, Burgos lands another takedown, ending up in the same, body triangle, looking for a RNC opening. Burghos hangs on to the back, though Jourdain constantly tries to get him off his back. Burgos manages to sink in 2 more neck cranks while still on Jourdain’s back. The round ends with Jourdain in a body triangle trying to get out while Burghos lands random flurries off his back.
Round 3
Both fighters hug before kicking things off for the final round. Burgos manages to land 3 straight jabs while evading all of Charles’s offerings. Shane seems to be trying to integrate his leg kicks, however, misses leading to him falling into the range of Charles’ strikes. Burgos tries to land a Takedown, but Charles manages to sprawl out and land multiple hooks tyo the face of Burghos> Jourdain then continued to work off his body , putting Burghos effectively against the cage. Charles continued pressuring Burgos against the cage. Burgos lands a hevy knee, wobbling Burgos for a moment but he continues to seemingly land at will. Shane is able to create a separation but is caught at the end of heavy strikes on his way out. Burgos manages to take Charles’s back once again and tries for a final attempt at an RNC< he manages to land a brief takedown, and the two end the fight on their feet.
