Conor McGregor’s whiskey brand, Proper No. 12 seems to be firing on all cylinders now after its launch back in 2018. However, The Notorious finds himself in a difficult position with regard to the brand as he has been sued over it by his former best friend, Artem Lobov.

“The Notorious” was sued for millions by his former friend and training partner. And now, Conor McGregor’s solicitor, Michael Stane believes that this was a ploy to promote Lobov’s new book. He claimed that in a series of Instagram DMs from February 2019, Artem told Conor that he was not interested in taking money from the Irishman. Michael alleged that Artem sent a message which said, “Let me start by saying I swear on my child’s life, I will not take a cent out of the whiskey deal… The thought of knowing that I helped you with something keeps warm on the coldest of nights.”

Stane also revealed the contents of another message which apparently said, “Now that I told you all this, and like I said i swear on my child I will not take a cent, this is something I cannot go back on.” If Michael Stane is to be believed, Artem apparently swore on his kids about not being after Conor McGregor’s money. However, now it seems he has done a 180 on this and wants his fair share of the incredibly profitable venture.

In what seemed like a return to form for the Notorious, Conor McGregor took to Twitter to take shots at several people. It looked as if no one was safe from the Irishman’s wrath as he took shots at everyone including Joe Rogan, MJF, and even Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, among those he singled out, Artem Lobov may have received the best of McGregor.

The Russian had claimed that Conor had started the whiskey brand in response to an idea floated to him by Lobov. In retaliation, Conor dropped a jingle on Twitter aimed at his friend-turned-enemy. “Artem is a rat na-na-na-nanana! Hey! Artem is a rat na-na-na-nanana!” sang Conor in a Twitter audio that sent the MMA world into a frenzy.

This came as a huge shock to everyone who had followed the Notorious’ career over the years. After all, his infamous feud with Khabib and the attack on his bus stemmed from a dispute between Artem and the Dagestani fighter. In fact, Conor flew all the way to New York to stick up for his then-friend after Khabib had cornered and slapped Artem over some comments he had made on social media. It seems there are no friends when you’re at the top and unfortunately, The Notorious had to find this out the hard way.
