Nick and Nate Diaz, popularly known as The Diaz brothers, have put Stockton, California, on the map. They have continually repped the city in each media appearance that they partake in, on top of the immense service they have done to the sport of MMA.
Hence, it was only necessary for the city to come up with a mechanism to reward Nate Diaz for it. In a practice followed by many towns, cities and districts around the world, the mayor, or the chief of the said territory awards an outstanding citizen with an honorary key to the city – as a reflection of the stupendous work that they have done for the place.
The Mayor of Stockton did the same for Nate Diaz. Expressing his respect for the fighter, the Mayor said, “We want to thank you for the grit and determination that you display every time you step into a fight. And I want you to know that that grit and determination is built into the very fabric of the city that you represent.”
In response, Diaz said, “It’s an honor, thank you very much to Stockton, California, for rocking with me,” Diaz said. “I’ve been rocking with Stockton this whole time … I’m going to be forever rocking Stockton, I ain’t going nowhere.”

Nate Diaz has left the UFC after his win over Tony Ferguson, and now can chase newer pastures
To say that Nate Diaz is a star in the UFC, would be a gross understatement. If anything, the Stockton native is bonafide legend of the sport, for all intents and purposes. Not only does every fan in the sport know of his exploits, but he is also famous outside the promotion.
That being said, the 37-year old bid adieu to the UFC a few months back after his UFC 279 win over Tony Ferguson. Diaz decided to chase free agency. What that means for the Stockton native is that he is open to looking for newer ventures, whether it be spending time promoting his own promotion, or entering the boxing ring, which has been his love for quite some time.
If it is the latter option that Diaz chooses to follow, then there are a couple of very exciting opponents waiting for him. The frontrunner among all is Jake Paul, who has repeatedly called out Diaz for a mega-fight. Although Nate Diaz hasn’t responded yet, fans will find out if yet another UFC legend takes on Jake Paul, after the American last fought and won against Anderson Silva.
