“I’d love to KNOCK HIS HEAD OFF” – Tai Tuivasa targets super fight with Jon Jones in the heavyweight division

Tai Tuivasa and Jon Jones

Tai Tuivasa doesn’t want to miss out on the chance to fight Jon Jones. The former light heavyweight champ is now officially a heavyweight and has talked about fighting in the division soon. The Aussie will welcome a super fight against a legend like Jon with a whole heart.

“Bam Bam” might have a challenge that is hands-full awaiting for him at UFC Paris this weekend against Ciryl Gane, but that won’t stop the Aussie heavyweight to get a dream fight against Jon “Bones” Jones out of his head. Tai Tuivasa has seen an extraordinary rise to the top in his UFC career and while he’s at the top of the mountain, he sure doesn’t want to miss out on opportunities that would make him regret looking back at his career.

Jon Jones becoming a heavyweight is good news for Tai as he gets a chance to fight arguably the greatest fighter of all time. At UFC Paris pre-fight press conference, Tuivasa spoke about his interest to fight Jones in heavyweight and wants the former light heavyweight champ’s name on his record. Tuivasa wants to face the best guys in the division and he is already on his course to do that.

At the UFC Paris press conference, Tuivasa reiterated that he wants to fight Jones one day. “Love to fight him. Said it before, this is why I do this. One day when I wrap up this whole fighting gig I want to say I fought this guy and that guy, you know, the best guys,” said Tuivasa about the potential of fighting a legend like Jones.

Tuivasa recently has been walking his talk and has accumulated one of the most impressive winning streaks. The fighter has wins over Derrick Lewis, Augusto Sakai, Greg Hardy, Stefan Struve, and Harry Hunsucker in his last five fights. Now he adds Ciryl Gane, the former interim heavyweight champ to his resume. A future battle against Jones would certainly put Taivasa as one of the greatest to ever do it in the sport.

Though Tuivasa has a lot of reverence for Jones, he would most respectfully like to knock out his rival in a fight. “I don’t want to come out and didn’t have the opportunity to fight the best. I’d love to fight Jon, and I’d love to knock his head off as well. It’d be pretty cool,” added Tuivasa in the presser. A shoey after beating a legend like Jones surely does sound like the greatest ever UFC event. Hopefully, we get to see this fight one day!
