Two longtime UFC competitors, Tecia Torres, and Raquel Pennington are starting a new path in their life. They recently shared on Instagram that they are expecting a child. The announcement came on the same day as Thanksgiving, giving the couple an added reason to be thankful this year.
According to Pennington’s social media post, the kid will be due in June of next year. The hashtags on Pennington’s post suggest that Torress underwent an IVF operation in order to conceive the baby.
Raquel Pennington posted a picture of them on Instagram with the caption, “We have an extra turkey in the oven this year. Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. Baby Pennington June 2023.”
Tecia and Raquel have been dating since 2016 and got engaged in 2017. Raquel Pennington is currently ranked fifth in the UFC women’s Bantamweight division and is on a four-match winning streak. Whereas for her wife Tecia Torres is ranked eighth in the strawweight division and last fought at UFC 273 where she fell short to Mackenzie Dern under a controversial split decision.

At UFC 273 in April 2022, Tecia Torres faced Mackenzie Dern in a closely contested fight where Torres was defeated by a split decision. Dern prevailed in round two after numerous close efforts at submission, while rounds one and three were very close to judge. After the fight, Torres declared that she believed she had done enough to claim victory.
At the end of August, after giving the bout some thought, Torrs spoke with MMA journalist Ryan Quin. Speaking in the interview she said, “9/10 people thought I won the fight. Everyone I spoke to told me I won the fight. But seeing online, every single score of the media people had me winning. I thought I’d won, I’ve been in this game for a long time. Yes I know leaving it to the judges is hard, but I clearly thought I won round 1 and 3″

Torres began to pick up some momentum after being on a three-match unbeaten run before losing at UFC 273. She won’t be able to see any action until 2024 due to her pregnancy. Eventually, when she comes back she would be hoping for a much better restart to her in-ring career.
