The MMA world is set ablaze with news of a new rift between UFC boss Dana White and in his eyes, the biggest crony the company has ever seen – MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.
Ever since Ariel Helwani’s introduction to the MMA world, where he would pose tough questions to UFC fighters, Dana White had seemingly kept an eye out for the mischief that he thought the former Canadian journalist was spewing. As such, YouTube is afoot with Dana White’s constant back and forths with Helwani – a lot of them playing out in the UFC supremo’s favour.
Ariel Helwani was banned from attending UFC events (which includes press conferences) in 2016, for leaking the news of Brock Lesnar’s return to the promotion. Since then, he has remotely continued his gig, interviewing fighters and other prominent folks from the MMA community from his studio.
In a recent development, Dana White has yet again spoken out about Ariel Helwani – this time, he has been joined by Paddy Pimblett, who severely bad-mouthed the journalist, accusing him of making a living off of fighters’ and also calling him ‘a rodent’. In quick succession, Helwani followed up, trying to refute any claims either of the duo made.
The MMA community finds the irony in Paddy Pimblett’s lambasting of Ariel Helwani
Paddy Pimblett started his tirade against Ariel Helwani by referencing how talks over fighter pay are moot – he contended that fighter pay is determined by a fighter’s marketability, more than any other factor. As such, the MMA community, including Derek Brunson, found his statements ironic and made it a point to voice their opinions on social media. Find the best reactions from Twitter attached below.
