Tom Aspinall won the UFC interim heavyweight title recently. He faced Sergei Pavlovich in the co-main event of UFC 295. The Brit won the fight impressively by knocking out the Russian in the very first round. Now, he wants Jon Jones to be stripped of his undisputed title so that he can unify the belt and fight Stipe Miocic.

In a recent interview with Michael Bisping, Tom Aspinall shared his thoughts about his future and the landscape of the UFC heavyweight division. He boldly stated that the UFC should strip Jon Jones of his heavyweight title. Further, he stated that it was customary to do it and that the UFC was biased about Jones. Here is what he said:

I think Jon Jones should be stripped from his title to be honest, because everyone does when they get injured like that. I think I should be the real champion right now. Stop protecting your boy at the top there, Jon Jones. If he's injured, get out of the way and I'll fight Stipe

Jon Jones won the heavyweight title in March by dominantly beating Ciryl Gane. It was his return to the UFC after a three-year layoff. Later, he was scheduled to defend his title against Stipe Miocic in UFC 295. But just eleven days before the fight, he injured himself in training and pulled out of the fight.

This led the UFC to book Tom Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich for the UFC interim heavyweight championship.

On fight night, Tom Aspinall came out the victor as he demolished the Russian in just 69 seconds. By this, he became only the third UFC champion from the UK joining the likes of Michael Bisping and Leon Edwards. Now, he wants to fight Stipe Miocic next and later Jon Jones.

However, Although Jon Jones was sidelined for a long time due to the injury, the UFC didn’t strip him of the title. This infuriated the interim champion recently. However, Tom Aspinall appreciated Jon Jones’ praise in his post-fight interview earlier. Also, according to Dana White, Jones would face Miocic on his return and as for Aspinall’s next fight, he didn’t have any answers.
