Tom Aspinall recently commented about fellow fighter Ciryl Gane. It was in an interview with TNT Sports. He suggested that Gane avoid challenging fights and only chose the ones he would win. This remark sparked a lot of reactions in the MMA community.

Ciryl Gane is known for his great skills and quick rise in the UFC. Post his win against Sergey Spivak at UFC Paris, Ciryl Gane was reluctant to face Tom Aspinall in his next bout. He advocated for a title shot. It did not go well with Tom Aspinall. In an interview with TNT Sports, Aspinall said of Gane, “Just his whole outlook in stuff is very..It reminds me of like of a private school, entitled rich kid or something.”. Regarding Gane’s title shot, Aspinall further said, “You need to do more..” Aspinall was referencing Gane’s humiliating loss to Jon Jones.

Gane and Aspinall headlined and won the UFC Fight Night events in Paris and London, respectively. Gane is ranked 1st in the heavyweight division to Aspinals 4th. Both of the fighters are poised to become champions in the future. Gane has already fought for the title twice. However, he was unsuccessful in both attempts. But he has tasted championship gold as he won the interim championship in 2021.

Another heavyweight poised to become a champion is 2nd ranked Sergei Pavlovich. The Russian fighter, after his debut setback, has finished all his fights inside the octagon. Moreover, he is the backup fighter at UFC 295 headlined by Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones. With Jones and Miocic already hinting at retirement, the division’s future remains in the hands of the younger heavyweights.
