Top UFC contender Tom Aspinall thinks Francis Ngannou should continue boxing. Ngannou recently lost to boxer Anthony Joshua and is set to return to MMA at PFL. However, Aspinall highlighted the reasons why Ngannou should stay in boxing. Here is what happened:

Tom Aspinall recently talked to OLBG about Francis Ngannou‘s boxing career. He said that the best move for Ngannou would be to continue boxing, even after his loss to Joshua.

What he’s going to do next is ultimately up to him. If I was in his position, I’d go where the money is — and as far as I’m aware — the money right now is in boxing, so that’s what I’d do. But I’m not Francis Ngannou, so it’s difficult to say.

Aspinall has advised Ngannou to focus on his financial gains and continue boxing. He said that boxing has more lucrative opportunities for an elite fighter like him than MMA would offer. When asked about his thoughts on making a boxing debut himself, the Interim UFC heavyweight champion said that he would take care of his UFC legacy first. Aspinall is currently focused on his own UFC career and is targeting a fight with Jon Jones. He revealed that he plans to do some boxing towards the latter half of his career.

After an incredible performance against WBC champion Tyson Fury, Ngannou went to face off against Anthony Joshua who was a former heavyweight boxing champion. Joshua showed his prowess against the former MMA champion after he delivered a powerful right hand that landed clean on Ngannou. Francis Ngannou got knocked down three times in the span of the two rounds the fight lasted.

Who else in the UFC wants to move to boxing like Francis Ngannou?

UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley wants to make his boxing debut. He was previously pinned against rising talent Ryan Garcia. However, after Garcia’s recent controversial activities, O’Malley now referred to him as “brain dead.” Now, he wants to take on boxing legend Floyd Mayweather instead in a high-profile bout in the near future.

UFC veteran, Dustin Poirier too expressed his desire to venture into boxing before retiring. Poirier has long harbored an interest in boxing and even thought about pursuing it as a career in the past. Even though he is successful in MMA, Poirier has always maintained a passion for boxing and now hopes to fulfill that aspiration by stepping into the boxing ring before he retires from MMA.

Similarly, Jorge Masvidal will take on Nate Diaz in a highly anticipated boxing match this year in June. The two fighters will finally have their rematch inside the boxing ring after Diaz lost to Masvidal back in 2019 in the octagon. As we can see, a lot of MMA fighters are slowly moving towards boxing which means soon we may get to see more incredible crossover matches between elite boxers and MMA fighters.
