Tony Ferguson shared an Instagram story on his account about the fight poster featuring Shavkat Rakhmonov. The MMA community was confused after seeing the El Cucuy and Rakhmonov showdown this weekend. Tony lost his last fight against Bobby Green at UFC 291. On the other hand, Shavkat defeated Geoff Neal at UFC 285.

However, after all the speculation and fans creating the hype, the 39-year-old revealed it was all in good humor. In his second story, Ferguson quickly ended all the buzz as he mentioned the editing involved in the fight poster. Amid all the fizz, one fan humorously made a comment on this story that “Don’t want to see him die.” It is pertinent to mention that Ferguson was on 12 winning streaks, but since 2020, he has lost his form.

Rakhmonov continues to ask for fights on social media since his fight against Geoff Neal. The Sambo fighter joined the list of tough UFC fighters who struggle to get two matchups every year because no one wants to compete against them. Everyone has a reason, from the top 5 fighters in welterweight to the guys in the top 15, to avoid some like Rakhmonov.

It is frustrating for MMA fans to see a potential titleholder sitting outside the octagon. The Kelvin Gastelum fight fell apart due to an injury for the American fighter. The UFC could rebook the fight in the future. Currently, Leon Edwards reigns supreme in the division and will fight Colby Covington at UFC 296. Rakhmonov remains just two wins from landing a title shot.
