As a top prospect in the division, he is considered among the top 5 heavyweight fighters in the UFC. He is set to fight Sergei Pavlovich for UFC Fight Night. Regarding his former opponent Francis Ngannou’s retirement, Blaydes shared his opinions.
Francis Ngannou was scrutinized for leaving the UFC. Fans thought he was cowering away from potential heavyweight match-ups. In extreme disappointment, they decided to turn their backs on the fighter. But his former opponent Curtis Blaydes did not hold back. The fighter supported Ngannou’s retirement from the UFC. He claimed that Francis leaving the UFC ‘makes sense’ for him.
“I do believe he only needs to have one fight where he earns like 5 million for it to be a win for him. That can happen between now and the next four years. I believe it’ll happen, so I don’t think it was a mistake,” says Curtis Blaydes. The fellow heavyweight backed him up on the departure from the UFC. Despite losing twice against the ‘The Predator,’ Curtis felt the need to back him up on this very issue. However, this did not stop fight fans from trolling him on Twitter.
These heavyweight titans have shared the octagon twice. Both times, Francis ‘The Predator’ Ngannou dominated the fight. Curtis Blaydes is set to take on Sergei Pavlovich for his next match at UFC Fight Night. As for Francis Ngannou, it is unsure what the fighter’s next move is. There were rumors floating around about a boxing fight with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

After his victory against heavyweight contender Cyril Gane, Francis Ngannou announced that he was leaving the UFC. This came as a shock to fans as he was set to fight tougher and better opponents like Jon Jones. Due to his departure, fans were visibly disappointed. The president of the UFC, Dana White, had mentioned that Ngannou did not want to take risks.
Fight fans are often brutal on Twitter. When it comes to their opinions on fighters, they cut loose. This time, it is no different as former opponent Curtis Blaydes defended Ngannou’s retirement. After the fighter talked to the press, Twitter exploded.
