Valentina Shevchenko reveals what makes her one of the best mixed martial artists to ever step inside the octagon

Valentina Shevchenko
UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko is all set to make her title defense against rising contender Taila Santos who is 19-1 in her professional mixed martial arts career and is one of the most dangerous flyweights in the division. However, like any other opponent, Valentina will be expected to cruise past Santos like her previous challengers.
With her win over Taila Santos, Valentina would have almost wiped off the entire division. Shevchenko has a record of 22-3-0 in her professional mixed martial arts career. The fighter has previously challenged the champion of the bantamweight division but was not able to get the champ-champ status, she claimed it would be inevitable for her to move up once again and challenge the champ for her throne.
“This is my road, my way”- Valentina Shevchenko believes she was destined to be a mixed martial artist

Valentina’s success is a result of immense hard work and lifelong training. She talked about her journey on MMA Fighting’s The Fighter vs The Writer podcast, and she said, “All these years of experience, it’s clearly showed me what I want, what I have to do to chase my dreams and exactly the right approach to the balance between resting and training. The balance between preparation and after the fight. You have to know all this. You have to manage this.”
She added, “I understood, thanks to martial arts, this is my road, this is my way. This is who I am and no matter what in the life, in the world to try, I don’t have to try them all. This is who I am. I don’t have to do what people want me to do. I want to do what I want to do. To become great, you have to have a strong mindset. If you have the strong mindset, no matter what happens around, it can never come and get you.”
