Vicente Luque’s early life and career
Luque was born to a Brazilian mother and Chilean father on November 27, 1991, in Westwood, New Jersey. When he was young, he had to move to Brazil with his mother after his parents separated. He got into combat training and continued karate till the age of ten.
His passion grew even more as a teenager, and he started training for Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Eventually, he shifted to mixed martial arts and never looked back from there.
Luque’s professional career as a MMA fighter started in 2009 when he participated in various local MMA promotions. Some notable ones are Shooto Brazil, Jungle Fight, Demo Fight, etc. Unlike many top fighters, Luque had a very average start and struggled to be consistent. However, after being a part of The Ultimate Fighter 21, Luque got the opportunity to debut for UFC in 2015.
