UFC 298 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) takes place Saturday from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. In the headliner, UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski attempts to defend his title once again. This time against Ilia Topuria. Concurrently, middleweight contenders Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker meet in a long-awaited co-main event.
Appearing on UFC 298 ‘Embedded,’ Vlog Series: Episode 2, Volk seemed ready for battle. Volkanovski considers there’s much fight left in him; so much so that he can do something wildly endangering. The latest video has gone viral that shows him entering a glass cage with a crocodile! But he nonchalantly mentions being more taken in by the chance of hypothermia. He says –
I'm terrible with cold water...Yeah, I'm more scared of the temperature of the water down there...gonna get in the water with a big crocodile. This is Crocosaurus Cove, I think...and now I'm going swimming with one.Alexander Volkanovski via UFC Embedded
At 26-3 MMA, 13-2 UFC, Volkanovski will be making a 6th title defense this weekend. Despite five successful defenses, cocky challenger Ilia Topuria finds his mettle unsettling. He already considers ‘The Great’ to be one of his easier fights. As such, the Aussie is out to prove him wrong.
The video shows Volk in a glass cylinder in knee-deep water; he remains unbothered as the reptile is fed his daily meal pack. Coming off his UFC 294 KO skid, he had mentioned preparation being the key. But nobody knew this was what he meant.

Alexander Volkanovski from Australia, and Ilia Topuria from Georgia duke it out for the featherweight gold, this weekend. The duo meet head-on in the UFC 298 main event at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Ahead of the fight, the promotion has been releasing its ritualistic and much-hyped Fight Week video series blogs. From UFC 298 “Countdown” to UFC 298 ‘Embedded,’ Vlog Series, but it is a whole other viral video that has the fight bubble piqued. Footage of Volkanovski swimming with a crocodile is doing the rounds on social media; here’s how some fans have reacted to it –
Some fans have pessimistically sniped at other ones for mistaking a saltwater crocodile for an alligator. However, this dubbing down has not distinguished any traction on the matter.
Most fans have unanimously celebrated Volkanovski’s daring feat. Some have even gone a step further to quip at the reptile being unsafe, stuck in with the champion. Shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering that the seasoned fighter once gloated as his arms being his kill weapon of choice, in conversation with Logan Paul and Mike Majlak.
