How good has Alex Pereira been in the UFC?
It seems like Alex Pereira’s sole aim to get into the UFC was to hunt down his former rival, Israel Adesanya. The Brazilian has previously beaten Izzy twice and is still the only fighter to have knocked out the Last Stylebender. Alex Pereira made his debut in 2021 at UFC 268 and won his fight against Andreas Michailidis via a devastating knockout.
Ever since the debut of Pereira in the UFC, fans and promoters alike have been waiting to match up Izzy and the Brazilian and the time finally came at UFC 276. Pereira won his second fight against Bruno Silva and got a huge bump to the top of the division in a fight against Sean Strickland. Pereira’s performance against Strickland stunned the world as he put away the #4 middleweight in the very first round.
Pereira immediately got a title shot and will headline the pay-per-view card at the historical Madison Square Garden. Izzy has been undefeated in the UFC’s middleweight division. The stage is set for Pereira to make history.
