“Want to make LEGACY for me BUT-” what concerns Brandon Moreno about the fourth title fight with Deiveson Figueiredo
Brandon Moreno- Deiveson Figueiredo
Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo have brought attention to the most underrated division in the UFC, in a way that no one could’ve imagined. To go to a trilogy fight within a span of one and a half years, delivering intense action and entertainment in all 3 fights and also involving the undisputed belt in all 3 of them, is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for the history books of MMA. Moreno is currently the interim-UFC flyweight champion and Figueiredo is the undisputed champion.
Both the best flyweights of the world are therefore looking forward to clashing against each other for the fourth time, which will be the first all-UFC rivalry to involve 4-fights. Moreno last fought at UFC 277 when he defeated Kai Kara-France to become the interim-UFC flyweight champion and the undisputed next title challenger. Figueiredo last fought at UFC 270 when he defeated Moreno in their trilogy via split decision, therefore getting his belt back.
Brandon Moreno says Deiveson Figueiredo might not fight before January 2023
In an interview with The Schmo, Moreno talks about his prime time touring for the UFC, his advice to fellow Mexican and boxing legend Canelo Alvarez and much more. In the midst of all, Moreno talks about his fierce rival in Figueiredo and how he sees the fourth title fight taking place if the obstacles resolve by themselves eventually.
“Obviously I am taking serious [Alexandre] Pantoja and all other challengers because they deserve it, definitely Pantoja,” says Moreno. “But man, talking about legacy, the fourth one against Figueiredo, man, I have goosebumps right now, because I wanna make a legacy for me,” says Moreno.
Moreno also talks about the problems involved in making this fight happen. “The problem right now is Figgy [Figueiredo] man, I don’t know when he really wants to fight because he said he wants to fight in Brazil. UFC made the official announcement of Rio on January 21st, I prefer to fight in December but I can fight on that card too. The problem is [also] Figueiredo’s weight. I don’t know if he can make weight until January, so yeah man, again, for legacy I wanna fight Figueiredo…” says Moreno.
What do you make of Moreno’s aspirations and simultaneous concerns for the fourth fight against Figueiredo? Who do you think will win the fourth fight? Where do you put this rivalry amongst the greatest in UFC history? Where do you put Moreno amongst the most fan-favourite fighters of all time and amongst the greatest Mexican fighters of all time?
