This story is a prime example of why you should never try to mess with a professional fighter. This robber was taught a lesson for his life by Polyana Viana, a UFC strawweight fighter.
Polyana Viana has been fighting in the UFC since 2018. The Brazilian strawweight is an absolute monster inside the octagon. In her UFC career, she has won all her fights by finishes. In 2019, “Dama de Ferro” met with a terrible incident in her country, Brazil.
The UFC strawweight was waiting for a cab in Rio when a man decided to test his luck against the fighter. The stranger threatened the fighter to surrender her belongings and also revealed he was armed. Viana being fearless, decided to throw a beating on this mugger and decided to teach him to never rob anyone.
The fighter threw a few punches and a kick which put the robber to the floor. She then went on to submit him with a rear naked choke before the robber himself pleaded for mercy and surrender himself to the police. UFC President Dana White decided to share this story on his Instagram and wrote how it was a “bad f**king idea” to mess with a UFC fighter.
The robber was brutally beaten up and was left with bloodied scars all over his face. This is a lesson to never mess with a UFC fighter. The difference in a skill when it comes to fighting between a layman and a trained fighter is ridiculous. Polyana Viana sure did impress the UFC boss with her skills on the streets of Rio De Janeiro.
Polyana Viana reckoned the robber didn’t have a real gun
After the incident went down, Viana spoke to TMZ Sports about the incident that went down in Rio. The fighter, who was 26 when the incident took place went into detail about how she decided to attack the robber instead of giving her belongings after the man claimed to have a gun.
When the robber told the fighter that he had a gun, Polyana doubted that he was actually armed. “I thought, ‘That’s not a real gun.’ So I got up and threw 2 hooks and after that, I just threw a kick to his face and that’s the damage you all saw in the photos,” said the “Iron Lady” talking to TMZ.
Turns out, Viana’s guess was right, the robber decided to make a fake gun out of cardboard. The bend in the gun gave it away which then led the fighter to attack the robber. This incident not only earned Polyana a ton of praise on the internet but also a fight booking just two months later at UFC 235 PPV.
